Organised jointly by the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs and the Karbook Sub-Divisional Administration, the festival aims to promote unity among different tribal and non-tribal communities through art, music, and local food.

According to the organisers, the purpose of the Kalajhari Festival is not just entertainment, but to recognize and support local talent. Many young and aspiring artists from Karbook and nearby villages performed traditional dances, folk songs, and displayed their handmade crafts — earning applause from the audience.

“This festival is a platform for those hidden talents who rarely get a chance to perform in front of a large audience. Our goal is to bring their art into the public eye and preserve our cultural identity,” said one of the local coordinators.

The festival also featured a local food exhibition, where traditional Tripuri dishes and organic products were showcased. Visitors from different parts of the state participated, turning the event into a lively gathering of friendship and cultural exchange.

Community members expressed that the festival has deeper meaning for them — beyond celebration, it is a symbol of hope and emotional strength. For some artists, performing here is a life-changing opportunity that brings dignity, confidence, and purpose.

As the evening ended with the beating of traditional drums and the joyful rhythm of folk songs, the Kalajhari Festival once again reminded everyone that culture is the heartbeat of a community — uniting people, inspiring creativity, and keeping traditions alive for future generations.
