Teachers Must Feel the Pain and Pride of Their Students Like Their Own Children” – EM Dolly Reang

A good teacher, EM Dolly Reang said, is one who feels deep pain when he or she sees a former student getting married too early, raising a child in their teenage years, or selling vegetables by the roadside instead of building a better future. “Such a teacher will never have the heart to stop and buy vegetables from that student,” she said, emphasizing that this pain is a sign of true responsibility and love for students.

Addressing teachers during the Sports Material Distribution Programme at the Karbook I/S Office, EM Dolly Reang described teachers as the second guardians of children after their parents. She said teachers play a decisive role in shaping a child’s life through education, discipline, and moral values.

She further pointed out a hard truth of society. “All of us, including teachers, want to admit our own children to good schools like Holy Cross or Don Bosco for better education. But what about the children of poor families?” she asked. Answering her own question, she said, “That is why you are appointed as teachers. It is your responsibility to educate these children as much as possible and help them rise above poverty.”

EM Dolly Reang said the real joy of a teacher should be the same joy a parent feels when their son or daughter achieves something in life. “Only when teachers feel that pride and happiness for their students, just like parents do, can we truly develop our TTAADC,” she added.

Her short but powerful message deeply moved the teachers present at the programme, many of whom listened with visible emotion and enthusiasm.

The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including I/S Bikram Kishore Jamatia, Muhari Jamatia, Bishal Debbarma, Bipul Debbarma, Malita Mohan Tripura, Ashiram Reang, Nakuljoy Reang, and Rathindra Debbarma.

Under the Karbook Sub-Division of the TTAADC, a total of 52 schools and 52 hostels benefited from the programme. Altogether, 117 teachers and 1,257 students received sports materials. Each school was provided with 11 different sports items, aiming to encourage physical development along with education.

The event not only distributed sports materials but also delivered a powerful reminder: education is not just a duty, it is a moral responsibility that shapes the future of an entire generation.

MLA Ranjit Debbarma Raises Questions Over 2006 Rape Case, Alleges Failure to Arrest Accused Even After 20 Years

Agartala | Nearly two decades after a rape case registered on 18 June 2006, the accused is yet to be arrested, triggering renewed political and public debate in Tripura. The issue resurfaced after MLA Ranjit Debbarma made a detailed post on his official Facebook account, which has since been widely shared and reported by several media outlets.

According to the MLA’s post, a court warrant was issued against the accused in the 2006 rape case. However, the police later submitted a report to the court claiming that despite repeated efforts, they were unable to trace or arrest the accused.

In his statement, MLA Ranjit Debbarma alleged that after joining a national political party, the accused was seen moving openly under police escort, allegedly in the presence of Minister Bikash Debbarma. Despite this, the police reportedly maintained that the accused could not be arrested.

The MLA further questioned the role of law-enforcement agencies, stating that such incidents have fueled a public perception that the law is being applied selectively, offering protection to influential individuals. He said this has caused widespread anger and concern among the people of the state.

Raising sharp questions, MLA Ranjit Debbarma asked:

  • “Will the victim of rape ever receive justice?”

  • “How long will such accused persons continue to roam freely despite court warrants?”

The Facebook post has sparked intense discussion on social media and in political circles, with many citizens demanding accountability, transparency, and a proper investigation into the matter.

As of now, there has been no official response from the police or the state government regarding the allegations mentioned in the MLA’s post. The case has once again highlighted concerns over delayed justice and the credibility of the justice delivery system in long-pending cases.
