Call for Cable Car at Dumbur to Boost Tripura Tourism

Dumbur, one of the oldest and most iconic tourist destinations in Tripura, has long attracted visitors for its natural beauty and cultural significance. To further enhance its appeal, locals and tourism advocates are urging the Tripura State Government or TTAADC to consider introducing the state’s first-ever cable car at Dumbur. The proposed project would not only offer a unique experience for tourists but also become a landmark attraction in the state.

Such an initiative could significantly increase tourist footfall and generate additional income for the region. With estimated construction costs for a 1 km cable car ranging from ₹26.5 crore to ₹41 crore, the return in tourism revenue could reach ₹2 to ₹4 crore annually. Stakeholders believe it’s time for authorities to take visionary steps to modernize Tripura’s tourism infrastructure and unlock Dumbur’s full potential.
