New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting on Wednesday, just a day after engaging in key defence discussions with senior officials, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the armed forces. The Prime Minister has granted the military autonomy to decide the mode, timing, and targets of their response as India prepares countermeasures against Pakistan-backed terror groups linked to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives.
Wednesday's agenda also includes meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), and a session with the Union Cabinet. Union Ministers Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, and top defence officials attended the high-level talks. This marks the second CCS meeting after India earlier suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and tightened diplomatic measures against Pakistan.
