10,000 Yaba Tablets Seized from Truck in Panisagar; One Smuggler Arrested

Panisagar, Tripura  — In a major success against drug trafficking, Panisagar Police recovered 10,000 Yaba tablets from a six-wheeler truck during a special checking operation. One alleged smuggler has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

According to Panisagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Soumya Debbarma, a special naka checking was being carried out at Poutakhali Traffic Point under Panisagar police station. At around 12 noon, a six-wheeled truck (registration no. NL01AE 8996) transporting eggs from Guwahati was stopped for routine inspection.

Upon closer checking, police grew suspicious about illegal activity and informed Panisagar Police Station and the SDM office. Later, in the presence of a Duty Magistrate and SDPO Soumya Debbarma, a thorough search was conducted, leading to the recovery of approximately 10,000 Yaba tablets concealed inside the vehicle.

Following the discovery, police detained the truck driver, identified as Milon Sinha, a resident of Kumarghat in Unakoti District. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.

The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts of Tripura Police to curb illegal drug trafficking in the region. Authorities have stated that stringent action will be taken against those involved in such unlawful activities.
