Maulana Zakir Hussain Leads Tree Plantation Drive at Jagai Bari Madrasa in Jampuijala, Highlights Islamic Teachings on Environmental Responsibility

Jampuijala, Tripura – August 1, 2025 – Emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation within Islamic teachings, Maulana Zakir Hussain Al-Jalili, Secretary of the Tripura State Nadwatul Ulama and principal (Muhtamim) of Al-Jamiatul Islamiyatul Jaliliyah Jagai Bari Madrasa, led a tree plantation program at the madrasa on Friday afternoon.

The initiative, held at 2 PM, is part of the madrasa’s annual tradition to promote ecological awareness among students and the community. Teachers, students, and officials of the madrasa management committee actively participated in the drive, planting various saplings in the premises of the only Islamic religious educational institution in the Jampuijala subdivision.

While addressing the media, Maulana Zakir quoted from Hadiths and stressed that planting trees is a Sadaqah Jariyah (a continuous charity), the reward for which continues even after a person's death. Citing the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he said, "If the Hour (Qiyamah) comes while one of you has a sapling in his hand, he should plant it." He underlined the responsibility of every Muslim to contribute to the environment and called upon all mosques, madrasas, Eidgahs, and graveyards to undertake similar tree plantation programs.

This event is being widely appreciated in the local community for combining religious values with environmental stewardship, promoting both spiritual and ecological consciousness.
