Freedom Indian Army PM Chairs High-Level CCS Meeting Post Pahalgam Terror Attack

Delhi: Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The CCS, which includes key ministers overseeing defence, home, finance, and external affairs, discussed immediate and long-term responses, including military, economic, and diplomatic measures.

The attack, reportedly with cross-border links, came after successful local elections and economic progress in the region. Measures announced include suspending the Indus Water Treaty to signal strong intent towards Pakistan. The government also decided to restructure the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB), appointing former RAW chief Alok Joshi as head. Six new members—retired senior officers from the military, police, and foreign services—have joined the NSAB. Separate meetings of the CCPA and CCEA were also held, with a cabinet briefing scheduled for 4:00 PM.
