Negligence at Tuisaramsakami J.B. School: Late Opening, Poor Infrastructure, and Lack of Teachers Raise Concerns

Tuisaramsakami Junior Basic School, under Mandai IS, is facing severe mismanagement and infrastructural neglect. The school has only three teachers, including the in-charge, Chaitra Debbarma.

On July 31, the school was found to be opened late at 8:21 AM. Teacher Kabita Debbarma, who returned from a 10-day leave, was the only staff present. She stated that the other two teachers had not reported, and she was unaware if they would come. Had she not returned today, the school would have remained closed without any official notice.

Due to the delay in opening, many students returned home after finding the school shut. The building's condition is alarming — the ceiling is collapsing, the electric meter box is dangerously installed inside a metal grill, and the school ground is overgrown with weeds, now serving as a grazing area for local livestock. Such is the dismal state of many schools in the hilly regions.
