Strict Crackdown by Kalyanpur Police: Seven Members of Ganja Smuggling Ring Arrested, 20 kg of Banned Drugs Seized

The Kalyanpur Police of Tripura have achieved a major breakthrough in their anti-narcotics campaign after a long time. On Saturday night, during routine vehicle checking in the R.S. Para area, police intercepted a white Eco vehicle and arrested seven smugglers with a large quantity of dry cannabis. During the search, around 20 kilograms of dry ganja were recovered from inside the vehicle, bearing the registration number TR01CC0276.

It has been reported that six of the occupants in the vehicle are residents of Bhagalpur district in Bihar, while one individual hails from Lefunga area in Tripura. During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to being involved in drug trafficking in exchange for money.

The names and details of the accused are: Sambhu Kumar Mandal (23), Abhdesh Kumar Mandal (24), Mantu Mandal (37), Anjani Mandal (35), Sangeeta Kumari (20), and Lalita Devi (30) — all residents of Bihar. The driver of the vehicle, Gautam Debbarma (35), is a resident of Lefunga under Tripura jurisdiction.

According to Kalyanpur police, a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. After completing legal formalities, the accused were presented before the Khowai District Court.

A police official issued a stern message, stating, “We will make no compromise in our mission to make Tripura drug-free. No one involved in narcotics will be spared.”

This incident once again highlights the fact that unscrupulous syndicates involved in the conspiracy to turn Tripura into a drug corridor are still active. However, the proactive actions by the police remain the only effective means of resistance. Conscious members of the public have appreciated the efforts of the Kalyanpur police force for restoring a sense of security in the community.
