Santirbazar, Tripura | July 21, 2025 — A heartbreaking incident has cast a cloud of sorrow over the peaceful village of Srikantapara under Santirbazar subdivision, where a 3-year-old boy, Alina Tripura, son of Purnamanik Tripura, tragically lost his life after falling into a nearby river.
According to family sources, Alina and his 5-year-old elder brother had gone to the river near their home to bathe, as they often did. But due to the recent rains, the river — located in a hilly area — had turned dangerously fast and forceful. Tragically, little Alina slipped and was swept away by the strong currents before his brother could react.

The elder brother, shocked and helpless, ran back home crying and informed their parents. The family rushed to the riverbank, hoping to rescue the child, but it was too late. Alina had already been lost to the waters.
The body was later recovered by villagers and local authorities, but the grief remains overwhelming. The entire community of Srikantapara is in mourning, with neighbors and relatives gathering to support the bereaved family.
This devastating incident serves as a grim reminder of how vulnerable young children are, especially in monsoon-hit hilly regions. The local administration has urged all families to exercise caution around rivers during this season.
