Dhalai, August 28, 2026: Residents of Debendra Karbari Para, under the Chawmanu Village Committee in Dhalai district, once again took to the road on Friday morning, blocking the Chawmanu–Manu route to press for solutions to their long-standing connectivity and drinking-water problems.
The road blockade reportedly began at around 6:00 AM, with villagers demanding the construction of a footbridge over the river and a permanent source of safe drinking water.

According to local residents, the river becomes difficult and dangerous to cross during the monsoon as water levels rise. Villagers claimed that the situation severely affects daily communication between the two sides of the river and creates particular problems for school-going children.
Residents alleged that when the river water becomes muddy during the rainy season, they are forced to depend on stream water despite concerns over its quality. They said the drinking-water problem has continued for a long time.
The villagers further claimed that written applications have been submitted to the concerned authorities on several occasions, but no permanent solution has been implemented so far.
The protesters have made it clear that they want concrete action on both demands. They warned that the road blockade will continue unless the authorities provide a satisfactory assurance and take steps toward resolving the problems.
The protest has once again brought attention to the difficulties faced by residents of remote areas of Dhalai, particularly during the monsoon season.
