Sriharikota: India’s space programme is set for another significant mission as the GSLV-F17 rocket prepares to carry the advanced EOS-05 Earth observation satellite into space.

The mission will be launched from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. GSLV-F17 will be the 19th flight of India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle, marking another important step in the country’s satellite-launch capabilities.
The rocket is equipped with a 4-metre-diameter ogive composite payload fairing, which will protect the spacecraft during the initial phase of its journey.
The main payload, EOS-05, is a next-generation Earth observation spacecraft featuring hyperspectral imaging technology. The satellite is designed to capture detailed information about Earth from a geosynchronous orbit.
The mission is particularly notable because EOS-05 is described as India’s first imaging satellite to operate from a geosynchronous orbit. Its advanced imaging capabilities are expected to enhance India’s ability to observe and study the Earth using space-based technology.
The GSLV-F17 mission represents another important achievement in India’s growing space capabilities and demonstrates continued progress in the development of advanced launch vehicles and Earth-observation satellites.
