MHA Delegation Likely to Visit Tripura Next Week to Review Tripartite Agreement

Agartala, September 6, 2026: The Centre is preparing to step up efforts for the implementation of the Tripartite Agreement signed to address long-pending issues concerning the indigenous people of Tripura. A high-level delegation of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is expected to visit the state next week for discussions with key stakeholders.

The proposed visit follows a recent meeting involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma. The meeting reportedly focused on accelerating the implementation of commitments made under the agreement.

During its visit, the MHA team is expected to meet representatives of the Tripura government, TIPRA Motha and other concerned stakeholders. The discussions are likely to examine the progress of various commitments and identify issues that require immediate intervention.

The Tripartite Agreement was signed in March 2024 between the Centre, the Tripura government and TIPRA Motha. It seeks to address political, economic, social, cultural and constitutional concerns related to the indigenous population of the state.

The upcoming consultations are expected to focus on developing a time-bound roadmap so that pending commitments can move towards concrete implementation.
