The blast occurred near the Acropolis, in an area popular with tourists. The damaged building reportedly contained a holiday rental apartment, while other parts were privately occupied.
According to the latest reports, at least four people have died and two remain missing. Emergency crews have been clearing debris and using specialist equipment to search for anyone who may still be trapped beneath the rubble.
Two women were reportedly rescued from a nearby building and taken to hospital, while a passerby sustained injuries. The explosion also damaged neighbouring properties and vehicles, and caused damage to a nearby church.
Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. A possible gas leak has been raised in reports, but the cause has not yet been officially established.
The search and investigation are ongoing, and officials are working to identify the victims and determine what led to the explosion.
