Violence Reported During VC Election Campaign in Poyang Bari; Tipra Motha Candidate Injured

Nutan Bazar, Tripura: Tension reportedly erupted in Bhanu Para and Nij Chandra Para under Powang Bari Village Committee (VC), Nutan Bazar–Malbasa, following an alleged attack on Tipra Motha supporters during the ongoing VC election campaign.

According to Tipra Motha party workers, supporters were allegedly attacked by a group linked to a BJP-backed independent group. During the incident, Tipra Motha candidate Tapas Chakma reportedly suffered a broken arm, while six to seven other party supporters were also seriously injured.

Following the incident, MDC Suhoy Uchai, along with personnel from Nutan Bazar Police Station and the SDPO, reportedly arrived at the scene and took steps to bring the situation under control.

Demanding immediate action, Tipra Motha workers called for the arrest of those responsible and appropriate punishment within the next 24 hours. They warned that failure to meet their demand would compel them to launch a massive movement.

The incident has raised concerns over the safety of political workers during the ongoing VC election campaign. The allegations and details of the injuries await official confirmation.
