AGARTALA: The body of a man was recovered from a pond near Dashami Ghat in the Ghoshpara area of Lichubagan, Agartala, creating concern among local residents.

The deceased has been identified as Rupak Pal. According to local sources, he had reportedly gone to the pond for a bath. It is suspected that he may have drowned after accidentally slipping into deep water.
After local residents noticed the incident, a search operation was launched in the pond and police were informed. Police subsequently reached the spot and, with the assistance of local residents, recovered Rupak Pal’s body from the water.
While preliminary information points towards drowning, the exact circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been established. Police have started an investigation, and the body has reportedly been sent for post-mortem examination.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the area.
