On Thursday afternoon, the CPIM Bishalgarh Subdivision Committee organized a massive protest rally and public meeting in Bishramganj Market, demanding the cancellation of the smart meter installation, rollback of increased water taxes, and withdrawal of the recent electricity tariff hike.

The rally began from the premises of the CPIM District Office near the Durga Das Shikdar Smriti Bhavan and moved through key areas of Bishramganj Market before concluding with a street meeting in front of the party office.

Senior CPIM leaders, including former minister Bhanu Lal Saha, Bishalgarh Subdivision Committee Secretary Partha Pratim Majumdar, and the Sepahijala District Committee Secretary, actively participated in the event. During the meeting, the leaders alleged that the ruling party is exploiting citizens under the guise of smart meters, highlighting several failures of the state electricity department. The CPIM asserted that they will continue to raise their voice until these "anti-people policies" are withdrawn.
