Charilam, Tripura | July 16, 2025 –
Despite ongoing claims of development and good governance, villagers of Madhya Brajapur Gram Panchayat, under Charilam Block, are fuming over the deplorable condition of a rural road that has remained neglected for more than 25 years.

The affected road, a lifeline for daily commuters and school-going children, is currently in a terrible state with knee-deep mud, making walking almost impossible. Villagers, including students, are forced to carry their shoes in hand while traversing the muddy stretch.
While half of the road has been brick-soled, the remaining half still lies in a broken, muddy condition. This incomplete work has been causing severe hardship for locals, especially during the monsoon season.
Villagers alleged that they have repeatedly informed the panchayat authorities and local leaders, but no permanent solution has been taken. On Sunday morning, residents spoke to local media, demanding that the unfinished portion of the road be completed urgently.
“For over two decades, we’ve been living with this suffering. When will this road see the light of proper construction?” questioned a local resident.
The villagers now hope that their voices will finally reach the administration and that swift action will be taken to complete the road and end their long-standing misery.
