One such awareness program was held on Friday at the South Charilam English Medium School under the Bishalgarh Subdivision of Sepahijala district. The program included a community awareness meeting under the banner of Mission Sankalp.
Prominent attendees at the event included Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rakesh Chakraborty, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dulal Dutta, Charilam RD Block BDO Smt. Kritika Saha, and several other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, SDM Rakesh Chakraborty emphasized that child marriage continues to pose a serious challenge in Sepahijala, particularly in the Bishalgarh subdivision. He stated that, following the Chief Minister’s directive, they have been actively working on this issue for the past year and have succeeded in raising public awareness. He assured that necessary steps are being taken to eliminate child marriage completely.
Chakraborty also highlighted the importance of rescuing the youth from the clutches of drug abuse. “Only when we eradicate both child marriage and drug addiction can we truly fulfill the vision of Mission Sankalp set by our Chief Minister,” he added.
