Santirbazar, August 19: The 118th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, widely regarded as one of the architects of modern Tripura, was observed with due respect on Wednesday under the initiative of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 36 Santirbazar Mandal Committee.
The programme was organised near the New Bridge area of Santirbazar, where floral tributes and garlands were offered at the portrait of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya.

Santirbazar MLA Pramod Reang, South Tripura District Kisan Morcha President Satyabrata Saha, Mandal Committee Vice-President Ramesh Reang, Mandal Committee General Secretary Bikash Sen, former Santirbazar Mandal General Secretary Mambu Mog, Janajati Morcha Mandal President Upendra Reang, along with other party workers and functionaries, were present at the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, former Mandal General Secretary Mambu Mog said that Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya played a significant role in shaping modern Tripura. He highlighted the Maharaja’s contributions to education, healthcare and overall development, saying that his legacy continues to inspire the people of the state.
He further said that the party is working towards the development of Tripura by following the ideals and vision of the Maharaja.
During the programme, MLA Pramod Reang also spoke about the Maharaja’s life, ideals and contributions. He said that party workers are continuing their efforts for the development and progress of the state by following the path shown by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the people and party workers, with considerable enthusiasm observed among those present.
